Many Maui blogs are written about the big moments, the mile markers, the top spots. For me, Maui is more about the smaller more personal moments. The seemingly insignificant thought-streams timed perfectly with the raddest song, top down cruising in the warm sunshine. That’s what Maui is to me. I don’t want to waste your time and tell you what everyone says. “Drive the road to Hana, go to Mama’s Fish House, The Bamboo Forest, Black Sand Beach, blah blah blah… (I agree with driving the road to Hana, BTW) BUT I want to instead, encourage you, to find those quiet moments that make memories last. Stub your toe on something amazing…
For me, those moments consisted of snorkeling to the sound of the whales out in the channel, the cold-as-ice waterfall, the best ahi eggs benny I’ve ever had, the warmth of the lava rock bathtub at The Montage, a perfectly chilled smooth tequila shot with new friends, turtle spotting, taking the leap into a SALTY waiting pool, wave riding, rainbows in unexpected corners. Maui is about that. Go find that.
Many honeymooners (like our New Zealand NEW friends pictured above) find their way to Maui and with good reason. The spirit of aloha inspires such loving chill vibes. There is the luxury of privacy and togetherness that is seamless… Cozy up with a coconut cocktail and the beautiful blue ocean view…. Whale watch or wave watch! Maui has adventure, romance, & relaxation.
